Provides direct instructional support to students in a positive environment. This role involves employing special educational strategies and techniques to enhance student development in sensory and perceptual motor skills, language, cognition, and memory. The teacher will instruct students in academic subjects using various methods to reinforce learning and cater to diverse needs and interests. Additionally, the position requires teaching socially acceptable behavior aligned with individualized education programs (IEPs) and implementing positive behavioral support systems. The teacher will modify the general education curriculum for students with disabilities, plan and conduct a balanced program of instruction, and establish and enforce classroom rules to create a conducive learning environment. Collaboration with parents, administrators, and other professionals is essential for developing and implementing IEPs. The role also includes maintaining student records, preparing reports, setting clear learning objectives, developing communication plans for inclusive settings, providing crisis intervention, assisting with data collection for interventions and reporting, and maintaining professional competence through staff development.
