About The Position

The Greater Latrobe School District is seeking a highly qualified, dedicated, and student-centered Elementary Special Education Teacher for Mountain View Elementary School, Learning Support Grades 3-6. The successful candidate will deliver continuous, high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs through individualized programming aligned to each student's IEP and applicable Pennsylvania special education requirements.

Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or Instructional II Teaching Certificate.
  • Pennsylvania Special Education PK-12 certification or Special Education PK-8
  • All required clearances
  • Strong knowledge of special education instructional practices, IEP implementation, and differentiated instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to modify curriculum and provide appropriate accommodations and specially designed instruction to meet student needs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple student files, timelines, and compliance deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze student data to drive instruction and support student growth.
  • Proficiency with educational technology, progress-monitoring tools, and standard student information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, adapt, and deliver individualized, standards-aligned instruction based on student present levels, identified needs, and IEP goals.
  • Implement a variety of instructional strategies, interventions, and materials to meet the academic, behavioral, and functional needs of students with disabilities.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of special education laws, regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices, including Pennsylvania Chapter 14 provisions governing special education services and programs.
  • Accurately monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and objectives through ongoing data collection and analysis.
  • Use assessment data and progress-monitoring information to inform instructional decisions, supports, and future IEP development.
  • Complete all required special education documentation in a timely and compliant manner, including IEPs, progress reports, reevaluation input, and related records.
  • Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, school psychologists, and other support staff to ensure coordinated services for students.
  • Maintain professional, constructive, and timely communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, needs, and programming.
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, reevaluation processes, and other school-based problem-solving meetings.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes student success, independence, and self-advocacy.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies, behavior supports, and positive reinforcement techniques aligned to student needs.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and organized student records and comply with all district expectations regarding reporting timelines and documentation.
  • Perform standard supervisory duties as assigned.
