About The Position

This is a part-time (.5 FTE) Special Education Teacher position at Walton Elementary School. The role involves providing specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in both inclusion and small-group/resource settings. The teacher will co-teach and collaborate with general education teachers, adapt curriculum and instruction to meet individual student needs, and develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Data-driven instruction, accurate documentation, and collaboration with various stakeholders are key aspects of this role. The position also includes supporting positive behavior, fostering an inclusive environment, supervising paraprofessionals, integrating technology, and participating in school-wide initiatives.

Requirements

  • Valid DESE Special Education Teacher license required

Responsibilities

  • Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in both inclusion and small-group/resource settings
  • Co-teach and collaborate with general education teachers to support access to grade-level curriculum and instruction
  • Adapt and differentiate curriculum, instruction, and assessments based on individual student needs and IEP goals
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including measurable goals, accommodations, modifications, and transition planning
  • Use data from formal and informal assessments to guide instruction, intervention planning, and progress monitoring
  • Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation, including progress reports and compliance requirements
  • Participate in evaluations and re-evaluations, including administering assessments and contributing to educational reports
  • Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success and inclusion
  • Facilitate and/or participate in IEP meetings and team meetings as required
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, strengths, and areas of need
  • Support implementation of positive behavioral supports and intervention plans as needed
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports academic growth, independence, and self-advocacy
  • Supervise and support paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom or students
  • Integrate technology and evidence-based instructional practices to enhance learning and engagement
  • Participate in building-based meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
  • Support school-wide expectations, culture, and student belonging
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or Special Education Administrator
