About The Position

Provide support to students within general/special education school settings and the community.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Effective communication skills with a variety of staff members
  • Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner
  • Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork, organization and strong work ethic
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students with disabilities, including but not limited to cognitive impairments, autism, and limited communication
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ukeru and/or CPI training
  • 60 credit hours of college credit
  • Associate's degree
  • College Board’s SAT score of at least a 480 on evidence-based reading and writing and a 530 on math
  • ETS Parapro Assessment with a passing score of 460

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage student behavior
  • Physically attend to student care needs, including personal care, diapering, transfers to and from wheelchair, tube feeding, medication administration, augmentative communication, assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility
  • Follow, implement and document all aspects of Positive Behavior Intervention Plan
