Salaried Special Education Teacher Assistant/Aide
About The Position
This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to work in the field of special education. You’ll collaborate with teachers, fellow aides/assistants, and therapists in a supportive environment. This role is perfect for college students or recent high school graduates seeking hands-on experience working with children with special needs. The school year follows most district calendars. Small classroom settings (6–12 students). 12-month positions include the 10-month academic year plus a 6-week summer session. Paid holidays and school breaks (Winter, February, Spring, and summer breaks surrounding the session).
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Ability to lift children weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must complete an initial medical exam and background clearances.
Nice To Haves
- Prior special education classroom experience a plus.
- NYS Certified Teacher Assistants
Responsibilities
- Assist with social, emotional, and academic development.
- Assist with personal care.
- Collaborate with teachers, fellow aides/assistants, and therapists.
