About The Position

Kokua Education is seeking Special Education Substitute Teachers for the 2026-27 school year in the Rio Grande Valley, TX. This role offers the flexibility to set your own schedule, with the potential to earn up to $145 per day, paid weekly. As a substitute teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' lives by providing positive role modeling and sparking a love for learning. Requirements

At least 1 year working with kids in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, etc.).
Completed 48+ college credit hours.
Feel confident managing a classroom of students.
Willing to step in where needed.
Pass state & federal background checks (costs reimbursed after 10 assignments).
Believe every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world.

Nice To Haves

Supporting students in a special education setting is preferred.
High School/GED, Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s/Professional (MBA, JD, M. Ed, etc) degree.

Responsibilities

Substitute teaching in special education settings.
Lunch/recess supervision.
Hallway monitoring.
Tutoring.
Proctoring during testing season.
