About The Position

This position is for a Special Education Social Worker effective at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves providing casework services to students, parents, and school personnel to address personal, social, or emotional maladjustments affecting educational and social progress. Responsibilities include conducting home assessments, performing group therapy, collaborating with school staff, referring students to external agencies, and maintaining case records.

Requirements

• A Master’s of Social Work Degree from an accredited college or university (MSW) with LICSW/LCSW as credentials.
• Massachusetts Licensure as Social Worker.

Responsibilities

• Perform casework service with individual students to correct personal, social, or emotional maladjustments affecting their education and social progress.
• Complete home assessments as needed for Special Education Team Evaluations or Central Intake Team Evaluators.
• Perform group therapy on a selective basis for students needing this format.
• Perform casework service with parents to increase their understanding, constructive participation in resolving their child’s problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources.
• Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in gathering and giving information of a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student’s behavior.
• Supervise the referral of students to various out-of-school agencies as necessary.
• Maintain case records and files.
• Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Building Principal and/or Coordinator.
