About The Position
The SID Teacher must provide a learning environment that is both stimulating as well as sensitive to the needs of children who have severe and profound disabilities.

- RIDE Special Education SID certification
Responsibilities
- Provide learning activities to all children that are appropriate to their levels.
- Provide supervision and guidance to Paraprofessional(s) who are assigned to the class.
- Meet with parents to disclose individual student progress.
- Work cooperatively with other professionals including related service providers: Chapter 1 teachers, Chapter 1 counselors, and special education staff, in meeting the needs of the students.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings regarding individual students and programming issues.
- Prepare an individualized education program (IEP) suited to the needs of each child and establish educational goals and objectives for each student on an IEP consistent with state education regulations.
- Evaluate academic and social growth of pupils and keeps appropriate records of such informal assessments.
- Provide support and counseling to parents and/or guardians as needed.
- Select and requisition books, instructional aids, instructional supplies and equipment.
- Assume other related duties as may be assigned.
