Requirements

  • Earned doctoral degree in Special Education or a closely related field (conferred by August 1, 2027)
  • Professional experience as a Special Education teacher
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive instructional practices in educational settings and culturally responsive practices
  • A scholarly agenda
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Evidence-based instructional practices, materials, and methods for teaching students with moderate disabilities; Literacy instruction for students with disabilities; Diagnostic and educational assessment for students with disabilities; Development, interpretation, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); Autism spectrum disorder, including school-based and home-based interventions, collaboration with families, and advocacy for students with autism

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience with online asynchronous or hybrid instruction and learning management systems, such as Canvas
  • Strong organizational and written and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Special Education in multiple modalities
  • Supervise teacher candidates in pre-practicum and/or practicum field experiences
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local schools and districts to support practicum experiences and collaborative initiatives
  • Participate in program development, accreditation processes
