The job of the paraprofessional is to support the teacher-classroom in the development, implementation and monitoring of a program designed to enhance the success of students academically and behaviorally. The paraprofessional supports the mission and values of Joplin Schools, enforces applicable Board policies and regulations, administrative procedures, and state and federal laws. They are responsible for supervising students, obeying safety rules, caring for school property, and maintaining professional relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public. Effective communication, customer service, and compliance with privacy rights are essential. The role requires active participation in professional development, professional conduct in all official business, and timely arrival and attendance at work and required meetings. The paraprofessional must maintain accurate records, solve practical problems using math functions, and interpret documents to apply to job duties.
