About The Position

South Arbor Charter Academy is seeking a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026-27 school year. This position involves providing instructional and behavioral assistance to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and/or 504-behavior plans. The role supports students individually or in small groups, focusing on the academic, moral, and social development of the whole child. The academy utilizes a result-driven curriculum and offers various support services like resource rooms, inclusion, and pullout services. The paraprofessional will also attend professional development, specialized trainings, and IEP meetings, and assist with compliance documentation.

Requirements

Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications, preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance for students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or their 504-behavior plan as directed by the special education team. Support can be provided 1:1 or in small groups.
Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
Implement result-driven curriculum and instruction specially designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from his/her disability such as, resource room, inclusion and/or pullout services.
Attend professional development, specialized trainings and IEP meetings with special education team and parents as required.
Assist with the required compliance documentation.
