About The Position
Knapp Charter Academy, located in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to serve students from Young5-8. This role involves providing instructional and behavioral assistance to students based on their individual education plans (IEP) and/or 504-behavior plans. The academy emphasizes educating the whole student academically, morally, and socially, and implements result-driven curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student. The position requires collaboration with the special education team, parents, and other specialists, as well as assisting with compliance documentation.
Requirements
- Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
- Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
- Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.

- Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications.
Responsibilities
- Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance for students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or their 504-behavior plan as directed by the special education team. Support can be provided 1:1 or in small groups.
- Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
- Implement result-driven curriculum and instruction specially designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from his/her disability such as, resource room, inclusion and/or pullout services.
- Attend professional development, specialized trainings and IEP meetings with special education team and parents as required.
- Assist with the required compliance documentation.
