About The Position

East Farms Elementary (Grades K-4) is seeking a Special Service Paraprofessional. Position is 6.5 hours per day (not including 30 minute unpaid lunch), school year. Position includes 8 paid holidays, 12 sick days, 3 personal days. Eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and $30,000 life insurance , LTD and 401a retirement plan.

Requirements

• Candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent (i.e. Para Pathways Assessment).
• Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.
• Ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form.
• Various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Prior experience working with school age children is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care/hygiene (i.e. lifting up to 50 pounds and toileting) and assists with medicine regimen.
• Provide a variety of instructional services and classroom support to staff and students.
• Carry out teacher prepared lesson plans and supervising teacher-planned activities.
• Assist in the preparation of materials for instruction.
• Record individual progress of students.
• Observe and collect data on students.
• Organize data, graphs, etc.
• Record student progress (including data).
• Take classroom notes.
• Take attendance.
• Provide personal care/hygiene (i.e.lifting and toileting).
• Assist with medicine regimen.
• Monitor hallways and/or study halls.
• Maintain on-task behavior.
• Correct minor behavioral problems.
• Escort students to other classes.
• Schedule activities.
• Copy, staple, sort, etc.
• Operate media and classroom tools.
• Maintain equipment.
• Run errands.
• Handle records in a confidential manner.
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• May be asked to provide medical or personal care / hygiene which may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
