About The Position

The purpose of this job is to provide functional, instructional, and behavioral support to students with disabilities as assigned by the teacher in the classroom.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

• Some experience working with disabled children.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities by working with small groups to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assist students with disabilities in matters pertaining to compliance with behavior intervention plans or medical needs at school and/or during school bus transportation to and from home and on school sponsored study trips.
• Assist students with disabilities in matters of personal tasks, such as mobility skills, personal hygiene, and self-help skills.
• Participate in in-service training programs, as needed.
• Assist teachers by locating, preparing and organizing instructional materials.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
• Assist students with mobility, toileting, feeding and communicating.
• Perform related work as required.
