About The Position

Under direction of professional staff, this role involves working with students individually or in group settings, assisting with supervision in various school areas (classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.), and implementing behavior management strategies. Responsibilities may include bus supervision, one-to-one student assistance, ensuring student safety, and providing necessary health assistance under nurse guidance. The role also involves assisting in the preparation of educational materials, aiding students during meal times and in personal hygiene areas, and helping students with transportation to and from buses or cars. Assignments can vary based on building and district needs.

Requirements

Two year post secondary education or Paraeducator certificate or qualifying score on NCRC assessment test required.
Willingness to assume responsibility.
Ability to work well with others.
Flexibility in working with classroom teachers.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them.
Capable of representing the school in a professional manner, which includes but is not limited to confidentiality, communication skills, and dress.
Regular attendance.

Responsibilities

Work with students individually or in group settings.
Assist with supervision of students (classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.).

May include riding the bus with students.
May include working one to one with student to complete assigned tasks.
Student supervision required.
Ensuring student safety is required.
Assist students with the necessary health assistance under the guidance of the nurses.
Assist in the preparation of materials used in the educational process.
Assist students at mealtime.
Assist students in personal hygiene areas.
Help get students to and from bus or car.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Assignments may vary based on building and district needs.
