This position is responsible for assisting certificated staff by performing instructional support tasks related to the students' educational development within the total school environment and by being a positive role model for students. The role involves providing instructional support for IEP students, focusing on reading, writing, math, and social/behavior skills. It also includes providing support and structure for students needing behavior and social skills assistance, helping students develop functional skills for independence, and implementing social skills training programs. Additionally, the para-educator will assist with personal care needs such as toileting and feeding, aid certificated staff with record-keeping, material development, and preparation of teaching aids. The position requires learning instructional techniques from a teacher and independently carrying out instructional programs. Collaboration with classroom teachers, assisting in student assessments, and monitoring student progress are key aspects. The role also involves performing routine classroom and building clerical tasks, potentially serving on district committees, and promoting positive public relations.
