About The Position

This position is responsible for structuring the learning environment to study the integrated Business Education program, adhering to the LRSD Curriculum Guides and Arkansas Department of Workforce Education curriculum frameworks. The role involves implementing individual educational goals, collecting student progress data, and planning a program of study tailored to individual student needs, interests, and abilities. The teacher will create a conducive classroom environment, employ various instructional techniques, and maintain accurate student records. Additionally, the position requires assisting administration with student life and conduct policies, striving for professional competence, and attending staff meetings and committees. Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Current Arkansas certification in Special Education 7-12 with Highly Qualified Status in Mathematics.
  • Evidence of successful experience in working with students at risk.
  • Evidence of ability to work well with others.
  • Experience in implementing non-aversive behavioral programs and social skills training.
  • Evidence of strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Evidence of ability to implement Individual Education Plans.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  • Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Mathematics 7-12 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the educational management team.
  • Implements individual educational goals and objectives.
  • Collects data on students’ progress.
  • Meets with classes as assigned.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administration regulation.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Performs other duties as the principal/supervisor may, from time to time, assign.
