About The Position

This position involves managing student IEPs and educational plans, supporting the implementation of these plans, and ensuring students have access to core instruction. The role includes supporting grade-level instruction, providing modified materials, and assisting with lesson design through accommodations and modifications. The Special Education Learning Support Teacher will be an active member of grade-level PLCs, support the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and collaborate with grade-level teachers and teams. Responsibilities also include creating lesson plans and programming for students with diverse needs, implementing strategies, adapted materials, and curriculum to help students meet IEP goals, providing instruction in areas of eligibility, managing and facilitating paraeducators, and collaborating with staff to provide supportive inclusive opportunities. The role also involves providing small group instruction and continuous progress monitoring to maximize student learning. Attendance at building and district meetings and conferences is required, along with other related duties.

Requirements

• Valid Washington state teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement
• Experience with writing and following the IEP
• Experience helping general education staff design and implement differentiated programming in core content areas
• Must be able to work as part of a team
• Must be able to supervise placement of special education classified staff working to support the program
• Knowledge of Special Education rules (state and federal)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A positive attitude
• Proven ability for organization and meeting timelines
• Attendance and punctuality are key functions for this position

Responsibilities

• Management of student IEPs and educational plan
• Support the implementation of student IEPs and access to core instruction
• Support grade-level instruction access, provide modified materials as needed, and support IEP with lesson design through accommodations and modifications
• Active member of grade-level PLCs to support student access to grade-level instruction
• Support the development and implementation of BIP
• Collaboration with grade level teachers and teams
• Create lesson plans and programming for students with diverse needs
• Implement strategies, adapted materials, and curriculum that will enable students to meet IEP goals and objectives
• Provide instruction to students in their areas of eligibility
• Management and facilitation of paraeducators
• Collaboration with staff to provide supportive inclusive opportunities
• Provide small group instruction for students needing to access that area of the continuum
• Continuous progress monitoring to maximize student learning
• Attend building and district meetings and conferences as required
• Other related duties
