About The Position
This position involves providing hands-on instructional assistance and daily care for students with special needs under the direction of teachers, therapists, and the building principal. Responsibilities include following daily plans, preparing for student care, assisting students, collecting data, implementing behavior plans, and performing other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Demonstrated ability to work with a student that has special needs and follow instructions provided by the teacher and supervisor
- Team oriented; possession of human relations skills; ability to work cooperatively with parents and staff
- Ability to work in dynamic, diverse settings; willingness to adapt to specific or new working situations; responding efficiently to feedback and providing direct support to students
Nice To Haves
- Two (2) years of college (48 hours) or Associate's Degree (or higher) highly preferred
- Prior experience with individuals with developmental and/or education-based disabilities
- CPR/first aid training preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on instructional assistance/support and daily care for students with special needs as directed by the teacher(s)/therapist(s) and building principal
- Follow daily plans from supervising teacher(s) and/or therapist(s)
- Make necessary preparations for student care
- Assist student(s) as directed
- Collect student data
- Follow student behavior plans
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
