About The Position

Orange Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Inclusion Specialist for the District (PreK - 6). This is a one-year, grant-funded position starting with the 2026-2027 school year. The specialist will lead the district-wide implementation and continuous improvement of the Inclusive Intensive Support Network. Responsibilities include coaching and consulting with teachers and paraeducators, supporting inclusive scheduling, facilitating collaborative planning, developing paraeducators, facilitating school-based teams to increase meaningful participation of students with disabilities in general education, and creating sustainable systems and resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, General Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching license or certification.
  • Strong commitment to supporting students with intensive needs and increasing inclusive practices.
  • Understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), inclusive scheduling strategies, and curriculum modifications.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor adult learners (teachers and paraeducators).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate collaborative planning and build trust across diverse teams.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills to coordinate a district-wide initiative.

  • Master's degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the districtwide implementation and continuous improvement of the Inclusive Intensive Support Network.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, technical assistance, and embedded professional development to general and special education teachers.
  • Support school leadership and counseling teams in implementing inclusive scheduling practices through strategic, high-quality schedule design.
  • Facilitate effective collaborative planning sessions between co-teachers, specialists, and general educators to ensure lesson accessibility and alignment with student needs.
  • Provide targeted, hands-on coaching and training for paraeducators to effectively support student independence and inclusion.
  • Assist school-based teams in developing actionable strategies to increase the meaningful participation of students with disabilities within general education environments.
  • Create sustainable systems, resources, and frameworks that will outlast the one-year grant period, ensuring long-term inclusive success across all schools.
