About The Position

The Special Education Facilitator role focuses on compliance, legal oversight, instructional leadership, and stakeholder liaison within special education programming. This position ensures that all Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans adhere to federal and state regulations, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The facilitator will lead IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings, often acting as the designated Local Education Agency (LEA) representative. A key aspect of the role involves providing instructional leadership and coaching to teachers, modeling and supporting evidence-based strategies, behavior management techniques, and accommodations. The facilitator will also be responsible for collecting and analyzing student performance data to inform intervention and goal adjustments, and will serve as the primary contact between parents, teachers, and district administration regarding special education matters. Additionally, the role includes designing and delivering professional development for staff on special education procedures, laws, and inclusionary practices.

Requirements

Valid Indiana Teaching License with Special Education certification.

Responsibilities

Monitor special education documentation, ensuring all Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans meet federal and state regulations (e.g., IDEA).
Facilitate IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings, often serving as the designated LEA representative.
Model, support, and train teachers on evidence-based instructional strategies, behavior management techniques, and accommodations.
Collect and analyze student performance and progress data to help teams make informed decisions about interventions and goal adjustments.
Serve as the primary point of contact between parents, general/special education teachers, and district administration regarding special education programming.
Design and deliver training for school staff on special education procedures, laws, and inclusionary practices.
Assess and document student progress, providing feedback to students and parents.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and collaborative planning.
Supervise students during school activities, field trips, and breaks.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavior.
Comply with school policies, state regulations, and ethical teaching standards.
