This position is responsible for leading students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, social, and psychological growth and maturation. The role involves planning and implementing an instructional program that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, consistent with the District's approved curriculum and teaching methodology. The teacher guides the learning process, establishes clear objectives for lessons, and adapts teaching methods and materials to meet varying student needs. A key aspect is creating a purposeful learning environment, organizing classroom materials, and setting positive examples. The teacher is also responsible for assessing student accomplishments, providing progress reports, developing and administering tests, and participating in Special Education team meetings. Collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents/guardians is essential, as is upholding school rules and maintaining classroom order. The position may involve supervising teacher aides and volunteers and maintaining accurate student records. The teacher must take precautions to protect students and be knowledgeable of emergency procedures.
