Coordinate the district’s compliance responsibilities with Dyslexia. Provide guidance to teachers for appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned which are designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Work with appropriate personnel to provide interventions and improve instruction for students serviced through Dyslexia. The fundamental purpose of the Special Education Dyslexia & Instruction Coordinator is to collaborate with district and campus instructional leadership to deepen the effectiveness of PreK-12th Special Education instruction, Elementary Reading & Language Arts instruction, on each campus and increase student achievement districtwide. The PreK-12th Grade Special Education Instructional Coordinator will develop a cohesive partnership between the district and campuses in order to coach, support and sustain instructional coaches and teachers with the implementation of best practices to improve rigorous instruction, facilitate authentic learning, and increase student achievement in math and Elementary Reading & Language Arts. In addition, in collaboration with the Student Services Department, the PreK-12th Special Education Instructional/Dyslexia Coordinator will participate in the design, upgrade, and evaluation of curriculum and district assessments to ensure professional development opportunities are aligned with student academic needs. Responsibilities include providing district and campus-level professional development for initiatives, data interventions, modeling/coaching teachers and supporting teacher teams in creating/developing lessons and activities along with district-wide data analysis and support.
