The Developmental Learning Program (DLP) teacher coordinates and provides children with intellectual impairments and related disabilities instruction in academic, communication, motor, self-help, leisure, vocational, and life skills. The DLP Teacher provides adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities including work with students with intellectual impairments and related disabilities. They teach academic, communication, social, behavioral, and functional life skills. They respond appropriately to behavioral, emotional, or crises while maintaining student dignity and safety. They foster self-advocacy, self-regulation, and social-emotional development. They create a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success. They collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, and other service providers. They maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and successes. They work closely with general education teachers to support inclusion opportunities and accommodations. They participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development activities. They conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate student performance and progress toward IEP goals. They collect, analyze, and maintain accurate data to inform instructional decisions. They prepare progress reports and communicate student achievements and challenges to families and educational teams. They participate in eligibility evaluations, reevaluations, and educational planning meetings. Performs other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.
