The Special Education Classroom Assistant works with teachers and other staff to support special education students individually or in a small group. This role involves assisting in preparing materials, providing instructional and behavioral support, maintaining logs, collecting data, and implementing behavior support plans under the direction of the teacher. The assistant will also help adapt classroom activities, guide independent study, and supervise students during various activities including meals, transitions, and field trips. Additionally, the role requires assisting students with personal care tasks, implementing de-escalation strategies, supporting student regulation, and operating mobility devices. The assistant will also help implement therapy programs and fulfill professional obligations such as enforcing policies, attending meetings, maintaining confidentiality, and completing professional development.
