About The Position

The Newton Community School District is accepting applications for a Special Education Strat II:BD Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is located at Berg Middle School and begins in August 2026. The district provides single benefits at no cost to the employee, including Health, Dental, and Life Insurance. The position will remain open until filled. Candidates must hold or be in the process of obtaining a current Iowa Teaching License with the K-12 Instructional Strategist II: BD/LD (263) endorsement. The District will consider teacher candidates with a Strat I endorsement and offer tuition assistance for graduate credits towards a Strat II:BD endorsement. Successful completion of Nonviolent Crisis Prevention (CPI) training, including physical and safety components, is required upon hire. Requirements

Hold or be in the process of obtaining a current Iowa Teaching License.
Possess or be pursuing a K-12 Instructional Strategist II: BD/LD (263) endorsement.

Responsibilities

Teach Special Education students with behavioral disorders (Strat II:BD) at the middle school level.
