About The Position

The Behavior Specialist will be responsible for helping to create and implement classroom management systems and individualized behavior intervention plans for students with disabilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) in Special Education or approved for USBE's Associate Educator License (AEL) in Special Education
  • An Associate Educator License (AEL) from the Utah State Board of Education is required for non-licensed applicants. This must be obtained before your start date.
  • Single subject teaching credential or certification if teaching a specialized subject
  • State certification
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Knowledge of relevant technology

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred
  • School or Clinic experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and/or Analysis
  • Create, train, and coach social skills implementation
  • Lead district efforts to better understand and eventually create trauma informed practices
  • Provide Professional Development to various groups to expand the knowledge of behavioral systems and best practices
  • Engage in observation and feedback cycles regarding BIPs in progress
  • Attend workshops to maintain current knowledge of new legislation and student advocacy service requirements
  • Actively maintain or improve the external and internal image of the District, its divisions, and its schools
  • Establish annual objectives as deemed appropriate by the supervisor
  • Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner
