About The Position

Dos Rios Elementary is an International Baccalaureate World School. The Special Education Assistant (MAB, 2 Positions) will provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. This role will facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. The position is responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned.

Requirements

AA degree or 48 semester hours or passing scores on WorkKeys exam.
Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Ability to move quickly from one position to another in response to student needs.
Upper body strength with the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the function of the position.
Ability to provide student-specific personal care support to students.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Desire to work in a team setting.
Positive attitude.
Regular attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

CPI training (training provided).
CPR/First Aid (training provided).
Previous experience working in a school setting or with children with special needs.
Paraprofessional experience.
Bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

Support the academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups of students with identified significant needs.
Provide student-specific personal care and support.
Assist with daily classroom activities.
Assist in data collection.
Sanitize equipment and materials.
Provide support to the staff.
