JOB GOAL: To assist the identified student(s), who are enrolled in the regular education or special education program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One to two years related experience preferred
  • Required to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
  • Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
  • Educational Aide Permit from the State Board of Education

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional attitude toward confidential information.
  • Be familiar with the current IEP and its implementation.
  • Assist student(s) in meeting daily living needs.
  • Assist with student’s academic needs, as determined by the IEP and teacher direction.
  • Assist the identified student(s) during individual and small group instruction, implementing behavior management plans, tutoring, etc.
  • Assist the classroom instructor with disaster drills, field trips, parent conferences, recess, etc.
  • Seek assistance from immediate supervisor or special education coordinator as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by building principal or special education coordinator as pertains to job goals.
