About The Position

Help special education teacher provide for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in a special education setting. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs. Work under general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree, two years (48 hours) of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment requirements.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities including autism.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.
• Basic first aid knowledge and CPR.
• Prior experience working with children.

Nice To Haves

• Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification will be recommended by the district upon hire.
