Requirements

  • Five years of professional experience in special education including two years as an administrator of a special education program; or An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years as an administrator of a special education program.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monitoring activities for local education agencies and ensure corrective actions are carried out
  • Evaluate special education plans from school districts and intermediate units and provide guidance based on state and federal regulations
  • Investigate Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) complaints and prepare detailed findings and required reports
  • Provide training, support, and clarification on laws, regulations, and procedures for schools and agencies
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to monitoring, inquiries, and assigned responsibilities
