About The Position

The Insights Program at Thacher Elementary School provides a highly structured environment that uses the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to develop social, behavioral, communication, and academic skills. Students receive individualized and small-group instruction and staff supports. Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, the Special Education ABA Specialist will assist certified professional staff with students to meet academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals and objectives.

Requirements

Experience with ABA and data collection.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with disabilities.
Ability to establish and cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
2 years college credits or equivalent or passing score of the ParaPro Test.

Nice To Haves

SafetyCare or comparable de-escalation training is preferred.
Prior experience working with students with autism and developmental delays preferred.
Registered Behavior Technician preferred.
Safety Care trained preferred.

Responsibilities

Implements interventions and de-escalation strategies with students who display significant behavioral issues within the school setting.
Collect and accurately record behavioral, social, academic, and other data as required per students' specific goals and programming.
Consistently communicates and collaborates with staff to foster student success.
Assist students with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities including toileting.
Implements positive behavior support plans and collects data on student progress.
Assists students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, corridor, self-care (toileting), and other related non-instructional areas.
Performs other job duties as required or directed by supervisors.
