About The Position

This position is a 1.0 FTE located at Barrett Elementary School. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for implementing instructional programs that meet the needs, interests and abilities of students using appropriate instructional materials, maintaining a safe and orderly environment, communicating with parents/guardians, maintaining complete and accurate student records, collaborating with school administrators, other teachers, instructional assistants, parents, and community members, monitoring and assessing student achievement, and attending ongoing professional learning and meetings.

Requirements

• Teaching experience in the above mentioned area
• Knowledge of best instructional practices
• Ability to integrate technology
• Experience in educational and instructional leadership
• Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure in Special Education

Nice To Haves

• Dual endorsed preferred
• Bilingual skills preferred
• Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or any other content area, is preferred but not required
