About The Position

Seeking Special Ed Lead Teacher, working in Neshamiy Public School District. Interviewing for fall 2026, position starts 08/19/20. DESS partners with child-serving institutions to provide services in early learning, behavioral and mental health treatment, academic interventions, and prevention programming. We also offer direct staff placement, diagnostic evaluations, and consultation services to school districts. Being a Special Ed Lead Teacher at Devereux has its advantages. As an Special Ed Lead Teacher you will work with students with autistic support needs within the Neshamiy School District. Reporting to the Special Education Teacher, among other duties, this position will: Support a Devereux Educational Strategies and Solutions program—specifically special education classrooms; provides supervision and coaching to program teachers that will result in the achievement of the educational, social, and emotional, as well as the transition and employment goals of the students, and the professional development of the staff. Includes supporting the development, maintaining, and evaluating the range of direct and support services provided to students in elementary school. The position requires knowledge of PDE, IDEA, and chapter 14 regulations, as well as competency in IEPs, positive behavior support strategies, classroom management, and MTSS/PBIS. The position requires successful relationships with school district leadership, supervisees and consultees in the programs, and colleagues in the education services division. Schedule: M-F: 8-4pm: This position is aligned with the school calendar and is a full-time role covering a 10-month period and opportunites for extended school year program in summer break.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in special education or related field required.
  • PA Department of Education certification as teacher (Level 1 or 2) required.
  • At least three years of experience in an educational setting working with individuals with autism and/or other special education populations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines.
  • Significant and frequent amounts of walking, standing and lifting of 10 lbs. or more is required.
  • Must be able to present through verbal and written communication, as well as develop visual media.
  • Free of dependency and abuse of illegal drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical or controlled substances.
