About The Position

This is a 1.0 FTE vacancy, grade A-09 187 days, located at Yorktown HS. The role involves providing support to teachers and students in both general and special education classrooms. The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate with parents, be a collaborative team player, and be willing to work under teacher direction and supervision. Additionally, the candidate must be able to work effectively with staff, parents, and children.

Requirements

• Experience working with students with special needs.
• Experience working in a elementary school setting.
• Clear understanding of the educational needs of special education and general education students, which includes, but not limited to, assistance with physical, or sensory needs.
• Must be reliable, dependable and flexible.
• Assistants must meet the requirements of the NCLB and Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) at the time of hire.
• A high school diploma, and
• An Associate Degree or two years of college study
• At least 60 semester hours, OR a 455 on the Parapro test
