The North Carolina Department of Justice is hiring an Attorney IV to provide high-level legal services to the Department of Information Technology (DIT), with a focus on statewide IT procurement, contracting, and related legal matters. The role works independently with minimal supervision and is part of the Service to State Agencies Section, which provides legal services—including litigation before state and federal tribunals—to several state agencies and components. DIT is North Carolina’s central agency for procuring and managing information technology assets and services. Its responsibilities include IT hardware and software, project design and oversight, IT security, statewide network architecture, technology infrastructure planning, central telephony, mainframe computing, and implementation of statewide IT systems. Local governments may also use DIT services and contracts. The attorney serves as a lead attorney for the statewide IT Procurement Section and provides guidance on IT procurement, intellectual property, and technology contracting. The position also includes reviewing and negotiating contracts, representing DIT in legal matters, and drafting or occasionally preparing criminal appeal briefs. The attorney manages assigned procurements and matters, communicates developments to stakeholders, and coordinates with colleagues across the Section, DIT, and the Department of Justice. Some travel, including occasional overnight stays, is required.
