About The Position

This attorney acts as defense counsel for the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, and other agencies of the State as needed, in legal actions brought pursuant to the Workers’ Compensation Act, N.C.G.S. §97-1, in the N.C. Industrial Commission, state and federal courts. This attorney also will represent the State in criminal appeals. The attorney may be asked to speak at conferences and teach workshops for the client upon request.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law by the North Carolina State Bar
• Four years of progressively responsible professional legal experience.
• Substantial experience in workers’ compensation litigation or significant experience in civil litigation.

Responsibilities
