About The Position

Special Day Class Teachers are responsible to the Director of Special Education and the site administrator. They provide direct instruction and coordinate instructional programs for students with exceptional needs enrolled in special day class programs, offering a basic core program for learning handicapped students in accordance with state education code requirements.

Requirements

• Special Education Credential authorizing Mild/Mod, and English Learner.
• Detailed copy of appropriate credential showing EL authorization.
• Resume.
• Three letters of recommendation.
• Education Specialist Instruction Credential - Mild/Moderate.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to students with exceptional needs enrolled in special day class programs.
• Coordinate instructional programs for students with exceptional needs enrolled in special day class programs.
• Provide a basic core program for learning handicapped students consistent with state education code requirements.

Benefits

• Master's degree or National Board Certification = $1879 additional yearly pay.
• Master's degree and National Board Certification or Doctorate= $1879 additional yearly pay.
• Separate Salary Schedule for Special Education teachers (additional 10% compared to classroom teachers).
• 95 hours of flexible work time outside of duty day for caseload management.
• 3 release days per school year for assessment and report writing.
