Our organization The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is the industry-funded regulator responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted with fostering a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and with protecting investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets. The opportunity The Vice-Chairs serve in both advisory and decision-making roles. The Vice-Chairs participate with the Chair in ASC and CSA policy committees and represent the ASC in Canadian and international regulatory organizations. The Vice-Chairs serve on administrative hearing panels and have primary responsibility for making panel decisions and issuing written reasons. In addition, they decide certain applications and provide advice on policy and legislative matters. This position provides a great opportunity to work directly with the Vice-Chairs, other legal counsel and ASC Members while gaining valuable experience in the practice of securities law and administrative law.
