Special Constable - Courts
About The Position
The Brantford Police Service is seeking applications for one full-time Special Constable - Courts position. This role involves providing court security, inspecting courtrooms and cell areas, controlling prisoners, maintaining court decorum, transporting prisoners, and serving legal documents such as summons, subpoenas, and executing warrants. The position supports the Community Patrol Section with tasks including prisoner safety, security, management, front desk inquiries, fingerprinting, monitoring, and processing of prisoners. The incumbent may be assigned to rotating day and afternoon/evening shifts.
Requirements
- Successfully complete a Fit PIN Test (Shuttle Run OR 1.5 mile run).
- Pass a Competency-Based Interview.
- Obtain an acceptable psychological assessment.
- Undergo a suitable medical assessment.
- Successfully complete an updated background check.
- Submit a Brantford Police Service Application Form and resume/cover letter electronically.
Responsibilities
- Provide court security at all court levels.
- Inspect court rooms and cell areas.
- Exercise control over prisoners.
- Maintain court decorum as directed by the presiding Justice/Justice of the Peace.
- Transport prisoners to and from jails, mental facilities, and correctional institutions.
- Serve summons, subpoenas, and execute warrants.
- Assist the Community Patrol Section with prisoner safety, security, and management.
- Handle front desk inquiries.
- Perform fingerprinting.
- Monitor and process prisoners.
- May be assigned to rotating day and afternoon/evening shifts.
