Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification
  • Quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire (ongoing competency required through internal resources; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements).

Nice To Haves

  • One year of related work experience is preferred
  • Completion of NICU / Mother/Baby Education Program after hire
  • National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification Low Risk Neonatal or NICU preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification completion within 6 months of date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to critically ill neonates and preemies as young as 32 weeks gestation.
  • Attend both low and high risk deliveries when needed.
  • Assist with stabilization and transport of infants born prior to 32 weeks gestation.
  • Deliver care to postpartum women and newborns on a rotating basis.
  • Provide individualized, comprehensive care, making critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and meticulously implementing patient care plans.
  • Collaborate seamlessly within an interdisciplinary team, contributing to a dynamic environment focused on optimal patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to the department's and hospital's policies and procedures, including safety, risk management and regulatory standards.
  • Keep abreast of trends, developments and regulatory requirements impacting matters within designated scope of responsibility.
  • Administer, oversee and document the administration of medications (e.g., topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously and intravenously) as ordered by the healthcare practitioner and in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Demonstrate competent professional practice and engage in opportunities for professional growth.
  • Demonstrate self-accountability to meet stated deadlines for all mandatory requirements.
  • Assess and care for post-partum and newborn patients.
  • Identify full-term infants at risk for complications and provides appropriate care to the full-term infant with complications.
