Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Ag Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in credit administration, agriculture or commercial lending, finance, or other related experience in the management of troubled loans and distressed asset workout and recovery.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Strong knowledge in business development, credit extension, credit administration, and portfolio management procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in credit analysis and regulatory requirements with respect to borrower’s rights.
  • Solid understanding of accounting, finance, and agricultural finance.
  • Functional knowledge of laws governing commercial lending (including the foreclosure process).
  • Comprehensive understanding of business, credit extension and administration, and legal issues related to borrower rights, RESPA, foreclosure, repossession, and bankruptcy is also necessary.
  • Working knowledge of Association policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of accounting, finance, and agricultural finance.
  • Highly skilled in negotiating workout strategies, troubled debt restructuring and ability to communicate effectively with the borrowers.
  • Skill in serving and working effectively with both external and internal customers in a professional, respectful manner.
  • Excellent skills in judgment, decisiveness, and analysis and ability to appropriately respond and react quickly as situations dictate.
  • Skill in utilizing time in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Ability to communicate complicated information, delivering bad news, and negotiating complex agreements effectively to achieve the best outcome for the Association.
  • Ability to identify and organize resources in a systematic way to prioritize fluctuating workloads, optimize efficiency, and ensure achievement of Association goals.
  • Oral and written communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics, and to effectively communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Actively monitors and manages troubled loans, developing and executing strategies to mitigate risk and maximize recovery outcomes.
  • Provides specialized support to enhance retention and improve outcomes for distressed or assigned accounts.
  • Communicate regularly with borrowers to assess their financial situation and negotiate repayment plans.
  • Obtains and analyzes sufficient borrower information to service, classify assets, monitor loan compliance, manage litigation, and/or resolve delinquencies that exist in the portfolio.
  • Develop detailed loan servicing plans with actions steps and timelines to restore loans to performing status or move out of the portfolio.
  • Working to ensure timely legal resolution of foreclosures and bankruptcies to take possession of Association collateral and recover deficiencies in such a manner as to limit expenses and mitigate losses.
  • May conduct site visits and inspections to assess collateral and property conditions.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of total loan portfolio to identify potential risks and develop appropriate action plans.
  • Analyze loan documentation, collateral, and financial condition.
  • Prepare quarterly reserve analysis and reporting.
  • Prepare and present reports on the status of troubled loans to senior management.
  • Comply and stay informed on regulatory requirements and Borrower Rights for distressed assets in accordance with FCA and the Association regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all actions and communications related to troubled loans.
  • Partners with internal teams, peer Associations, legal counsel, borrowers, and other stakeholders to drive timely and accurate resolution of troubled loans.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with lending team and capital markets teams.
  • Works to assess and improve the relationship between the field and the credit function to enhance the customer experience when obtaining a loan or loan servicing action.
  • Cultivates a network of internal and external relationships that strengthens the Association’s image and creates opportunities for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships across the Association.
  • Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data.
  • Understands, applies, and supports the Association mission and vision statement in a positive, professional manner at work and with customers in all settings.
