About The Position

Axos is seeking a Special Assets Analyst I who will support the Special Assets team in the monitoring, analysis, and resolution of classified, watch list, and problem loan credits across commercial and consumer portfolios. This entry-level analytical role provides exposure to workout strategies, loss mitigation, and credit risk management under the guidance of senior Special Assets staff. The position is designed to develop foundational skills in credit analysis, problem loan reporting, and portfolio monitoring with a clear pathway for advancement within the Credit organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field required
  • 0-2 years of experience in credit analysis, banking, or a related financial role
  • Internship or academic project experience in finance, accounting, or credit preferred
  • Exposure to financial statement analysis or basic underwriting concepts a plus
  • Financial statement analysis and spreading fundamentals
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment
  • Foundational knowledge of credit underwriting principles

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial and collateral analysis for due diligence and evaluate loan repayment ability regarding asset based lending portfolio to minimize credit losses
  • Review ongoing financial and collateral performance on existing portfolio accounts.
  • Analyze and recommend appropriate workout strategies to maximize value of loan assets.
  • Perform and approve loan reviews as needed
  • Monitor loans in Bankruptcies and Receiverships.
  • Support loss mitigation requests and recommend workout options, including; loan modification, deed in lieu, and short sale requests.
  • Ensure compliance with servicing guides, process special assets inquiries such as; taxes, insurance, appraisals, inspections, etc; and identify potential vendors for such tasks
  • Perform activities associated with maintaining process/operations, including developing and implementing policies and procedures on systems and the flow of information
  • Receive clear communication including feedback, coaching, individual needs assessment, and training gaps, including regular, one-on-one performance reviews to ensure performance and quality standards are being met
  • Prepare documents for amendments, restructures, client requests and review reports according to regulations, policies and standards
