About The Position

The Bureau of Fraud Prevention and Prosecution is searching for a Special Agent A in the Central Region. This position allows you to uncover facts, investigate cases, and support fair outcomes for programs across the Commonwealth. Your work will help ensure that assistance goes to those who qualify and that fraud is properly addressed. As a Special Agent A, you will be supporting investigations related to eligibility, overpayments, and fraud within programs administered by the Department of Human Services.

Requirements

  • One year of investigative experience and a bachelor’s degree; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
  • Must obtain CLEAN/NCIC certification within two months of employment and maintain this certification for the duration of employment in this job.
  • Understanding of investigative processes and principles.
  • Adherence to the values and ethics of the OSIG.
  • Professionalism and discretion in work.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
  • Must pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment, including a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
  • Undergo fingerprinting and an in-depth background check to include criminal, tax, and credit history.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations, gather evidence, and review records to determine eligibility and overpayment issues
  • Interview applicants, recipients, and other sources to collect information related to assets, income, and residence
  • Apply state and federal laws and regulations when reviewing cases and preparing findings
  • Prepare reports, criminal complaints, and related documents for hearings and court proceedings
  • Work with law enforcement partners, participate in task forces, and support agency goals
