About The Position

Are you an organized, energetic food service professional? We are looking for a Snackshop/Concession Attendant to help drive daily culinary operations at Hubbard Hall! In this role, you will do more than just serve food—you will mentor student staff, maintain top-tier kitchen standards, and help deliver outstanding Spartan experiences every single day.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Working knowledge of food preparation and serving techniques is necessary.
  • Two years satisfactory experience at the Food Service Worker level or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience is necessary.
  • Some willingness to work a flexible shift is necessary.
  • Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations is necessary.
  • Occasional lifting of over 75 pounds is required.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan operator's license(s) may be necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Some overseeing and cash handling experience is desirable.
  • Two to three years of satisfactory experience in Residential and Hospitality Services (or equivalent technical training).
  • Working knowledge of food preparation, serving techniques, and standard kitchen sanitation rules.
  • Prior cash handling and supervisory experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to handle occasional heavy lifting (up to 75 pounds).
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts based on the operational needs of the residential unit

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist student staff in preparing high-quality, "short order" style food items.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, verifying, and taking inventory of food and supply items to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of food and supplies to maximize operational efficiency and reduce spoilage.
  • Direct student staff in the proper sanitation of the unit, dishes, utensils, and work areas according to prescribed health codes.
  • Operate a cash register during assigned shifts and maintain accurate financial controls for all transactions.
  • All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension.
  • If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
