About The Position

Ohio Connections Academy (OCA) is a tuition-free, public online school that provides a high-quality educational experience focused on student motivation and engagement in a safe, virtual learning environment. In addition to academics, teachers prioritize students' emotional well-being and social development, collaborating with families to tailor learning to each student's best learning style. Requirements

  • Highly qualified and certified to teach in Ohio (appropriate to grade level and subject responsibilities).
  • Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • High degree of flexibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player track record.
  • Must own a computer with high-speed Internet access that meets Connections Academy’s minimum technology specifications.
  • Must maintain posted office hours for at least 3 hours per week on two separate weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm.
  • Complete required orientation and training programs.
  • Comply with all provisions of the Connections Academy Work At-Home Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with online instruction is a plus.
  • May be required to attend training and/or meetings at the school office throughout the school year (frequency dependent on proximity to office).

Responsibilities

  • Manage subject-specific instructional programs.
  • Monitor student progress and evaluate work.
  • Run online instructional/tutorial sessions.
  • Provide academic guidance to middle school students.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for a caseload of middle school students.
  • Consult regularly with learning coaches and students via telephone, Internet, and curriculum tools to ensure successful completion of instructional programs.
  • Communicate with parents/learning coaches, students, and other teachers via phone, WebMail, asynchronous discussions, and synchronous conferencing.
  • Instruct students, monitor student work, provide feedback, and suggest instructional approaches and strategies.
  • Monitor the completion of assignments in the given subject area.
  • Score assessments and projects in the given subject area.
  • Conduct online tutorial and instructional sessions for students using online conferencing software.
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of the curriculum for which responsible.
  • Provide struggling students and parents with alternate strategies and additional assistance.
  • Complete all required training sessions throughout the year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
