About The Position

We are seeking a passionate Spacesuit Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to human space exploration. This role involves designing, developing, evaluating, and delivering software for a new generation of EVA suit systems. You will be responsible for creating both test and operational software, collaborating with NASA counterparts, and supporting integration and verification throughout the program lifecycle. The position requires adaptability as responsibilities change across different development phases. We are actively identifying qualified candidates for this potential opening and conducting interviews, anticipating the position will be approved and opened soon.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant discipline.
  • Approximately 13 or more years of experience developing software for aerospace or defense missions, ideally with NASA-related programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide or mentor small engineering teams while maintaining accountability for technical products.
  • Experience executing verification steps required for certifying flight or mission-critical software, including unit, integration, and formal reviews.
  • Strong understanding of C programming fundamentals, data structures, algorithm efficiency, and associated performance considerations.
  • Background with embedded Linux development.
  • Experience with version-controlled collaborative development environments.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with NASA's Core Flight Software (cFS)
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet), and low-level driver development.
  • Familiarity with modeling tools such as UML/SysML.
  • Experience with incorporation of AI technology in project processes for increased efficiency.
  • Proven success delivering reliable software under fast-changing program conditions and challenging deadlines.
  • Strong ability to prepare and communicate technical material to engineering leadership and external program stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Translate high-level system expectations into software components by designing, coding, and validating functional implementations.
  • Carry out the full development cycle, including design analysis, implementation, test planning, and deployment of both prototype and production code.
  • Participate in structured reviews such as design evaluations and code assessments, contributing to improved software reliability and traceability.
  • Perform unit-level and integrated software tests to ensure compliance with technical performance requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve system-level issues spanning hardware interfaces, timing constraints, and algorithmic behavior.
  • Contribute to verification and validation activities, including requirements-based test development and documentation of results.
  • Support design and safety-focused reviews by preparing technical material and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Utilize agile tracking or project-management approaches to report progress and align with evolving mission priorities.
  • Coordinate work with NASA engineers and contractor teams to ensure consistency in system behavior and program objectives.
