About The Position

We are looking for a Spacecraft Electrical Systems Design Engineer to work in Boulder, CO supporting our client. This role involves providing electrical systems engineering support to technical teams for the definition, direct implementation, and operation of complex electrical systems which include spacecraft (Bus and Payloads), instruments, and ground systems. The position requires overseeing and guiding the management of electrical requirements, supporting planning and execution of assembly, integration, test, and verification activities, and assisting with the development and flow down of electrical subsystem, electrical box, and board level requirements. The engineer will also develop and refine electrical interface control documents, perform power budget analysis, harnessing design, grounding diagrams, EMI/EMC compliance, and compliance analysis. Collaboration across engineering teams and disciplines is essential for developing and refining electrical architectures, including the creation of Electrical Functional Block Diagrams. The role also involves preparing and giving presentations, providing subject matter expertise for technical risk and opportunity assessments, orchestrating team tasks, and resolving blockers. The engineer will work collaboratively with internal mechanical, thermal, EMI/EMC, and Systems teams, and will be required to work onsite five (5) days/week.

  • Must have a TS/SCI security clearance
  • Understanding of system engineering tools/methodologies; specifically, MBSE and Cameo
  • Understanding of detailed board design to provide review authority for detailed design teams including digital design, analog design, power design, FPGA design, packaging
  • Understanding of space electronics test techniques and processes to provide review authority for electronics test teams
  • Understanding of root of trust/chain of trust concepts and implementation into firmware and software

  • Provide electrical systems engineering support to technical teams for the definition, direct implementation, and operation of complex electrical systems which include spacecraft (Bus and Payloads), instruments, and ground systems
  • Oversee and guide the management of electrical requirements (ownership, stakeholder, derivation, allocation, verification, and validation) and analysis to show mission performance and mission utility
  • Support the planning, preparation, documentation and execution of assembly, integration, test, and verification activities throughout design lifecycle
  • Assist with the development and flow down of electrical subsystem, electrical box, and board level requirements for space based and ground electronic architectures.
  • Develop and refine electrical interface control documents for space based and ground electrical architectures.
  • Develop power budget analysis, harnessing design, grounding diagram, EMI/EMC compliance, and compliance analysis for inputs to environment, design, and test requirements.
  • Work collaboratively across engineering teams and disciplines to develop and refine electrical architectures for space based systems to include the creation of Electrical Functional Block Diagrams.
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the program’s technical risk and opportunity assessments, assisting with the definitions of impact and probability and providing insight to effective methods for risk mitigation and opportunity capture.
  • Orchestrate and enable tasks owned by team and resolve blockers prohibiting closure of tasks
