About The Position

SWISSto12 is a rapidly growing aerospace company, known for its innovative use of 3D printing in high-performance RF products and its development of HummingSat, a new category of geostationary telecom satellites. HummingSat, developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), is the world's first commercial telecom GEO SmallSat, offering a cost-efficient, compact, and agile solution for telecommunications operators. SWISSto12 is also a leader in RF products and sub-systems, leveraging patented 3D printing technologies for lightweight, high-performing, and competitive solutions. This role is for a Spacecraft Database Systems Engineer to join the HummingSat GEO satellite product line team, contributing to an innovative and growing company.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice, as well as technical leadership skills.
  • Real-world experience with system architecture, requirements definition, flow down, tracking, and performing system-level analyses in support of trade studies.
  • Advanced knowledge of one or two spacecraft subsystems and intermediate knowledge of several other subsystems with an ability to draw parallels and manage interfaces between them.
  • Understanding of principles for spacecraft design, manufacture, assembly, integration, test, and operation.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex technical problems and manage complex technical activities.
  • Able to work on a self-initiated basis, while being part of a team.
  • Proven ability to “think outside of the box” and thrive in an often-ambiguous trade-space.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the population and contents of the spacecraft database, including definition and population of commands and telemetries, telemetry calibration curves, and telemetry limits.
  • Maintain consistency of data between programs, reusing existing information and generating new data as needed.
  • Generate telemetry packets (housekeeping and events) to maximize telemetry amount and refresh rate within downlink bandwidth constraints.
  • Work closely with the database development team, providing critical inputs for the database schema and architecture.
  • Manage releases of database contents, ensuring correlation with flight software versions.
  • Maintain database contents by collecting feedback from AIT/AIV tests and correcting any identified inaccuracies.
  • Support other groups that rely on database contents, such as the AIT group and ground team for operational procedures.
  • Perform systems engineering tasks throughout the satellite lifecycle, including proposal, design, integration, test, and operations.
  • Define, flow down, verify, and validate requirements, and write requirement specifications.
  • Lead cross-discipline trade studies and issue resolution efforts.
  • Perform system analyses, design, and development tasks.
