About The Position

Performs final spacecraft integration tasks including Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) and Solid-Layer Insulation (SLI) installations. Works from preliminary design drawings, sketches, blueprints, schematics, and written or verbal instructions to determine most appropriate methods for integrating designs and meeting production and laboratory requirements. Performs assembly and integration tasks to precise tolerances, selecting most effective methods for meeting engineering specifications. Operates specialized equipment during spacecraft assembly including hydraulic test consoles, cooling system test consoles, alignment fixtures, and installation fixtures. Determines sequence of operations and installs components in space vehicles before testing, including performing complete system leak and pressure checks and alignment checks of control surfaces. Handles fragile multi-layer insulation (MLI) films and materials with care during installation onto test and flight articles. Supports installation of MLI and SLI on spacecraft, ensuring all procedures meet required specifications. Records and analyzes test data, generating reports, charts, and graphs. Operates computer-controlled equipment including heated tools, ovens, positioners, alignment systems, lift equipment, cranes, and hand and power tools. Builds and terminates wiring harnesses to a high standard for racks and boxes.
